12BIO - Biology NCEA Level 2
Aims of the Course:
Biology is the study of the variety, structure, functions, continuity and interrelationships of living things in nature. It provides a wide range of learning experiences which will be of value to all students throughout their lives, and provides a sound foundation to the study of biological and health sciences in the future. The internal assessment component of the course allows students to develop practical skills to analyze scientific data. Research skills will also be developed to demonstrate an understanding of adaptations in plants and animals.
Topics:
This course covers the key basics of cell biology, researching adaptations in animals that enable them to carry out living processes and deepening students understanding of
genetics.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students should have achieved 15 Dilworth Points in 11SCI.
