12MAS - Statistics NCEA Level 2
Aims of the Course:
Statistics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in data. This course is designed for students
who are interested in data, how it is collected and how it can be (correctly) interpreted. Statistics in Stage 1 at
University is one of the most popular courses as it is a requirement for students studying fields of Humanities,
Commerce, Business and some Sciences.

Topics:
As a preparatory course for Level 3 Statistics, the topics covered focus on statistical insight through the PPDAC cycle. The topics include: Experimental design, statistical reports, simulations, probability and informal inference.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students should have achieved 15 Dilworth Points in 11MAT.
