13HTC - Hard Materials Technology NCEA Level 3
THIS COURSE IS A UNIT STANDARD BASED COURSE
Aims of the Course:
This BCATS Unit Standard course is made up of practical and theoretical aspects of Furniture making, Building, and Construction. The practical outcomes produced by the students combined with the theory content of the course at all times. The student outcomes are constructed in such a way as to give them the maximum number of learning experiences of common Carpentry practices.
Credits gained will count towards NCEA Level 3, but do not count towards University Entrance or course endorsement.
Topics:
Stage 3 Project (i.e. laminated sun loungers, coffee tables, storage units)
Design and manufacture a specific product that is both technical and aesthetically complex.
Measure and calculate for a Stage 3 project
Using measuring and calculating to manufacture a complex project. This will ensure students are making projects that meet design specifications.
Select and use materials for a Stage 3 project
Selecting and justifying suitable materials to make a complex project that is sustainable, long lasting and fit for purpose.
